Laserfoil Laminate for Rotary Engraving
Detailed Information About Laserfoil Laminate for Rotary Engraving
Laserfoil Engraving Laminate is an ultra-thin, self-adhesive modified acrylic material for rotary engraving. At just 0.2mm thick, it is ideal for producing professional engraved adhesive labels where a standard engraving laminate would be too thick. The durable micro foil surface engraves lettering, logos and fine detail cleanly with excellent contrast. Its flexible construction allows it to conform and adhere to clean convex surfaces, perfect for industrial labels, control panels, equipment identification, trophy plates and personalised products where a low-profile engraved finish is required.

Frequently Asked Questions
What can I use to ensure this material lies flat on my machine bed?
We can offer a number of work holding products. That would be suitable for this task.
Our preferred option is the Seklema matt (insert link), as this reusable product will hold the entire sheet firmly. Alternatively, you can use our low tack, work holding tape (insert link), which will secure the edges of the sheet. Other methods include Vacuum beds and work holding clamps when using a machine with a T-slot table.
Can I engrave Laserfoil on my rotary engraving machine?
Yes. Laserfoil engraves cleanly on most rotary engraving machines using standard carbide engraving cutters. It is also suitable for CNC engraving systems and CO₂ laser engravers.
Which cutter should I use for Laserfoil?
Laserfoil engraves well with standard V shaped carbide engraving cutters. The best cutter will depend on the size of the lettering and the amount of detail required, but a sharp cutter will always produce the cleanest finish.
Will Laserfoil crack or chip when engraved?
No. When engraved with the correct cutter, Laserfoil machines cleanly without chipping.
Can I use my existing laser engraving settings?
As every machine is different, we recommend carrying out a small test piece before starting production.
Can I apply Laserfoil to painted metal?
Yes. Laserfoil bonds well to clean, smooth painted metal surfaces. For the best adhesion, ensure the surface is dry, free from grease and thoroughly cleaned before application.
Can Laserfoil be removed if I make a mistake?
The adhesive is designed to provide a permanent bond. While it may be possible to remove a label, it may damage the label, the adhesive, or leave residue. So it's best to position it carefully before applying firm pressure.
What makes Laserfoil different from standard engraving laminate?
Laserfoil is only 0.2mm thick, making it a flexible and extremely robust material. It’s suitable for applications where thicker laminates may not sit flat.
Can Laserfoil be used outdoors?
Our standard colours are suitable for use both indoors and outdoors; however, bright yellow and bright silver are recommended for indoor use only. If you require a metallic engraving material suitable for outdoor environments, our External Rotary Laminate is the better choice with 3M 467 adhesive tape applied.
