Acrylic Sheets for Engraving, Cutting & Making
Our range of acrylic sheets is suitable for a wide variety of engraving, cutting and fabrication applications. Whether you are using a rotary engraving machine or laser machine, we offer a selection of acrylic materials, colours and finishes to suit different projects.
Acrylic is a versatile alternative to materials such as glass, offering a clean, professional finish while being lightweight, easy to work with and available in a wide range of colours and effects. From engraved signs and name plates to key fobs, awards, control panels and decorative pieces, acrylic can be engraved, cut, drilled and painted to create a professional finished product.
Acrylic for Laser and Rotary Engraving
Different engraving machines and applications can require different material characteristics. If you're looking specifically for acrylic materials for a particular machining method, check our specialist categories:
Acrylic for Laser Engraving – Materials selected for laser engraving applications, including suitable MDF, plywood and natural wood options.
Acrylic for Rotary Engraving – Wood materials suitable for traditional rotary engraving machines, including materials that can be machined using carbide cutters.
These specialist categories provide more detailed information relating to each machining method, while this page gives an overview of our complete wood engraving range.
Our Acrylic Range
We stock several different types of acrylic to give you more choice when selecting the right material for your project.
- Cast Acrylic: Our cast acrylic sheets are available in a range of solid colours and are suitable for engraving and cutting. The colour runs throughout the material, providing clean, consistent edges when the sheet is cut. Cast acrylic is available in 3mm and 5mm thicknesses, making it suitable for everything from smaller engraved items and plaques through to more substantial signs and fabricated pieces.
- Extruded Acrylic: Known as XT extruded acrylic, providing another option for applications where extruded acrylic is preferred.
- Modified Acrylic: Our modified acrylic range offers specialist finishes for particular engraving and display applications.
- Mirrored Acrylic: Mirrored acrylic provides a reflective finish for projects where appearance is particularly important. It can be used for decorative signs, displays, lettering and other eye-catching applications. Please note: mirrored acrylic is not suitable for outdoor use.
- Perspex Duo: A two-layer acrylic material, unlike our solid-colour acrylic sheets. The contrasting layers allow the engraved area to reveal the underlying colour, creating a clear and professional engraved result.
- Glitter Acrylic: For decorative applications, our glitter acrylic range adds a textured, eye-catching finish to signs, decorations, displays and other creative projects.
- Engraving & Cutting Acrylic: Acrylic can be worked using both rotary engraving machines and laser engraving machines, depending on the particular material and application.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can acrylic be engraved with a rotary engraving machine?
Yes. Many of our acrylic sheets can be engraved using a rotary engraving machine. The choice of cutter and machine settings will depend on the type and thickness of acrylic being used. For rotary engraving, we recommend using suitable carbide cutters for a clean, controlled finish.
Can acrylic be engraved and cut on the same machine?
Yes. Depending on the acrylic and your machine, the same sheet can often be engraved and cut as part of the same project. This makes acrylic useful for producing signs, labels, plaques, key fobs and other engraved items.
What is the difference between cast and extruded acrylic?
Cast and extruded acrylic are manufactured differently, which can affect how they behave during engraving, cutting and fabrication. Cast acrylic is commonly used for engraving and is available in a wide range of colours and finishes. Check the individual product information for details of each material.
Can I paint fill engraved acrylic?
Yes. Acrylic can be suitable for paint filling, allowing engraved areas to be given additional colour and contrast. This can be particularly useful for signs, labels, control panels and name plates.
Can acrylic be used outside?
Some of our acrylic sheets are suitable for outdoor applications, while others are intended for indoor use only. UV stability and outdoor suitability can vary between material types and colours, so always check the individual product specifications before using acrylic outdoors.
How do I choose the right acrylic for my project?
Consider how the finished item will be used, whether it will be indoors or outdoors, the appearance you want and whether you will be engraving, cutting or both. You can then compare the individual products in this category to find the material, colour, finish and thickness that best suits your project.
